PRODUCTION NOTES
rah Jane I have your baby
More updates on the Curse of Sara Jane. (spoilers ahead) Tonights shoot (4/23/05)was filled with laughter and gore, (as always.) We managed to piece together John Tatroe's entrance/death scene. The cars traveling down this stretch of road remained a constant interruption, however, and a quick visit by an unofficial official representative of the Hunstmann refinery set us back for maybe a few minutes, and allowed for a plethora of humor to flow from Tatroe, Doug, David, and Jeff ALL AT ONCE! Oddly enough, the only police officer we saw tonight was John Tatroe himself, who is the communications supervisor for the police department. His death scene took a LOT of planning and setup. Amazingly, it worked out very well with everyone working in utter harmony and jubilation. It was indeed an extremely succesfull shoot, in my opinion.
Last night (4/22/05) we filmed Jym's death scene... again. The shoot was very much a success. Of course there are a few things that made the night interesting. First of all; here lately we've had a problem with cars passing by and interupting our shots. Last night we counted 15 cars before we even got started filming. You see, this is a problem because we usually have the camera rolling in the middle of a shot when this happens and we have to cut and re-shoot that scene. That is one of the biggest delays we've had in filming this flick.
However it looks like the film is getting very close to completion. Derek now has a rough cut of the film with just a few holes to fill. The biggest dilemma is scheduling the actors for the rest of the pick up shots. We have approxomately 4 more shots to do and then the finalizing post production will begin, including ADR, FOLEY, mixing, and mastering. We were joined by an additional crew member last night. Eastwood (Wood) Almazan, who is now back from the Philippines where he performed with the Filipino Wushu Team. (pictured at left). He has been acting for 11 years and his name is recognized here in the Golden Triangle. He has performed with the (OCP) Orange Community Players, Orange Hospice, and Bridge City HS. He is a 3rd Dan Black Belt in Song Moo Kwon (Tae Kwon Do) which he formerly instructed under his late father Grand Master Ahimuto Masuda Almazan in Little Cypress, TX. He is now a 4th level in Qixing Tanglang Wushu (Seven Star Praying Mantis Fist) who is planning on opening his own martial arts school here in the future. Wood is also in the local music scene singing for MCP (Male Chauvinist Pigs) with Jym Evans and acting with Monstamorgue. We are very happy to have him on board the Land of Z team!
The Curse of Sara Jane continues! After the last pickup shoot, the rating of COSJ might be NC-17 due to Gore and Violence. Hilight here to read a spoiler: The crew have purchased real bowels, tongue and organs from a slaughter house for some of the gore scenes making some of the shots extremely realistic and brutal. We are sure that there will have to be two versions of the film because of this. Not much is left to the pickup shooting, just a few more scenes to tie it all together. We will keep you all up to date on everything going on. Just remember, if you are driving down Sara Jane Road at night and you see a bunch of people with lights and cameras, it's us..lol RUMOR CONTROL NOTE: There are some rumors going around about the future films coming from Land of Z and here they are. We might be making a reality-based zombie movie in the near future. The story that might be used was written by Jym Evans of Shaybar Records and Monstamorgue. If and when there is any news on this topic we will inform you. Also, talks are going around of turning The Curse of Sara Jane into a trilogy! The second installment will be co-written by Eastwood Almazan and will most likely NOT be reality-based but more cinematic.
For those of you who were fans of the Garage, I am sad to announce that the garage has closed due to exausted funds. Keep coming here for news on the possible Garage DVD. We are now shooting the rest of the "Curse of Sara Jane". The executive decision was made a few months ago to make the 45min short into a full length film. If you haven't seen the short, it is a reality based horror story about the history of a haunted road in Port Neches, TX. Post production of "Burnout" is on hold for the shoot of Curse of Sara Jane. However, pick-up photography might delay the production even further. We will keep you updated. |
